Regular flights between Spain and Venezuela are once again authorized
In accordance with NOTAM No. C0077/22 and A0043/22, the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC) added Spain to the list of nations with permitted enger and cargo flights, being the first European country to resume regular commercial operations to Venezuelan territory.
The INAC authorized in November 2021 commercial flights under a special modality between Venezuela and Spain to attend in large part to the engers stranded since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Air Europa, Conviasa, Iberia, and Plus Ultra offered services between Madrid (MAD) and Caracas (CCS) with the frequencies assigned by the Venezuelan authorities.
The market between Venezuela and Spain was heavily affected due to the current restriction. Figures obtained by Aviacionline through Aena Estadisticas indicate that in 2021, on the route between Madrid (MAD) and Caracas (CCS) 13,973 engers and more than 237 tons of cargo were mobilized in 70 air operations, representing a reduction of 94.2%, 91.8% and 93.8% with respect to 2019 levels.
All engers arriving in Venezuela must present a PCR-RT test (negative and verifiable) 72 hours prior to arrival in the country. Spain s Bolivia, Panama, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Turkey, and Russia as the only nations with commercial flights allowed to Venezuelan territory.
